The Potters Guild is a strong supportive community of
30 potters and clay artists. Members share a library, resources, materials, and equipment, and most important, share a common love - the discipline of working in clay.
We are committed to the continued vitality of pottery within our group of potters, and in the thriving clay community in the Philadelphia area.
The Guild began in 1964 when several students of Paulus Berensohn established a workshop under his guidance. His role was a monitor, mentor, and a catalyst for us to find our way in clay. The Guild grew to include potters in Delaware County, Chester County, Delaware, Maryland, and New Jersey.
Our individual perspectives on pottery-making evolved with the acquisition of a building on the grounds of the Arts Center in Wallingford and with the continual broadening of our membership in number and scope. Some current members are founding members, adding a rich element of history and unity to the Potters Guild.
