This will be an afternoon of decorating 6 inch square tiles with a slip carving
technique that simulates the aesthetic of woodcut. The possibilities with this
process are limitless and exciting to explore. All skill levels are welcome.
All necessary tools will be provided. We will have nature images on hand for
inspiration. You can also feel free to bring favorite images of your own.

 

Making Simple Whistles from Clay

Whistles are one of the oldest known instruments, and have been made from clay
for millennia. Try your hand at building functional clay whistles using handbuilding
techniques. The basic components of the whistles mechanism will be explained
during the step-by-step demonstrations. Alternate techniques, design options
and incorporation of whistles mechanisms into sculptural forms will also be
discussed briefly. Each participant will be given the opportunity
to craft their own simple functional whistle.

and listening to polkas!!!
