This workshop will focus on making taller, and more complex forms on the wheel using a process called “stacking”.
Two thrown sections will be joined together after stiffening slightly to make covered jars, pitchers and bottles. Pulled handles and pitcher spouts will be discussed and demonstrated. Nate will also demonstrate a variety of slip application techniques. Towards the end of the workshop we will make handmade brushes out of bamboo and deer tail.

Summer Nights: Adding Texture to Thrown Pots
Wednesday, August 16
7:00 – 9:30 pm
Instructor Rich Farrow

Cost: $50 CAC member, $55 non member

Tired of smooth surfaces on your thrown pots?  We can fix that. In this workshop we’ll talk about several different ways to apply texture to your pots while they are still on the wheel.  Rich will discuss and demo 4 different techniques:  faceting, stamping, paddling and combing.  Each different method gives unique surfaces that are difficult to achieve in any other way.  And these techniques have been adapted to be an integral part of the throwing process, so the texture is created while your pot is still on the wheel, freshly thrown.

The workshop will be held in the Potters Guild Carriage House Studio
