Sunday April 15

Cost: $200/ CAC Members $175

This workshop will be a general overview of ceramic glazes, focusing on but not limited to cone 6 reduction. It is designed for beginner to intermediate potters. We will discuss cones, kilns, firing dynamics and principles as well as applying those principles to various firing cycles. This will lead us into some basic classifications of glazes, like shino, copper reds, ash, celadon, tenmoku, oil spots, etc. We will discuss how and why each type of glaze works and how you can achieve them. There will also be Frit demonstrations, glaze recipes, slide presentation and plenty of time for questions on all types of glazes.

We will be doing a cone 6 reduction firing for shino, celadon, and copper red glazes. Please bring bisque ware made of cone 6 clay, (either porcelain or white stoneware) which we will glaze on Friday evening 5:30pm to fire on Saturday and unload on Sunday afternoon. Each participant should bring items not more than 8" in height to fill a 12"x24"shelf.

Registration is secured only by sending a check payable to The Potters Guild and mailed to:
